My Illustrative Past: A Few Knot Gardens

My Illustrative Past: A Few Knot Gardens

As I write my next tutorial, I thought I'd share three of my older illustrations.  I painted these three knot gardens over ten years ago, inspired by some images in a vintage garden book (I'm sorry I can't remember where I saw them!).

These were created during my watercolor and ink stage.  I drew my images in pencil, applied watercolor (nothing fancy), then, once dry, inked them in.  The inking in stage has always been my favorite part.  I love adding textures to my illustrations to create contrast and depth. My next post will cover this topic a little more...so hold onto your seat.  Until then, take a peek into my illustrative past...
