This month, we’ll be exploring the book Joyful by Ingrid Fetell Lee, which focuses on the Aesthetics of Joy...the recurring visual and spatial qualities that consistently spark delight. The book shows how our surroundings shape how we feel, and how designers can intentionally create spaces that uplift the human spirit.
We will explore this book through discussion prompts and design challenges that connect these ideas directly to landscape design. As you read, notice which aesthetics resonate with you, and think about how you could bring joy into your own design work.
Joyful is full of insight that can transform how you approach garden spaces. Each aesthetic of joy could be a focus for a month of reflection and experimentation in your designs. As you progress through the book, feel free to share which ideas inspire you most, and we can highlight them in our live discussions. Let's jump in!
