DRAWING IN TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE
See your designs in a new dimension
This month, we’re diving into one of the most powerful tools in a designer’s sketchbook: two-point perspective drawing. Whether you're mapping out garden rooms, visualizing structures, or just wanting to give your sketches more depth and realism, this technique helps you bring ideas to life with clarity and confidence.
Two-point perspective is all about understanding how space works—how lines lead into the distance, how shapes take on dimension, and how your viewer steps into the scene you’ve imagined. It might look technical at first, but with a few simple rules and a little practice, it becomes second nature—and incredibly fun.
Join us as we explore this visual language of depth, dimension, and design. You don’t have to be “good at drawing” to start. You just need a pencil, a ruler, and a willingness to see differently.

GOODNESS FOR YOU THIS MONTH
Below you will find several items to help you learn more about DRAWING IN TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE. From written words to video to applied activities to our Design Library to group discussions. Explore our topic from different angles and gain a new perspective. Click on the images below to download a PDF of your Garden Design Guide and Activity. Further down you will find a video and links to our community, plus a live Monthly Meetup too!
VIDEOS: Drawing in Two-Point Perspective
I created two demo videos this month showing the basics of two-point perspective drawing. Watch one or both. Repetition and lots of practice is the best way to learn how to draw. I kept both videos simple so we can learn the foundation of drawing quick perspectives: finding the existing vanishing points, then using those to draw your proposed design...and all verticals stay vertical.

BONUS VIDEO: Two-Point Perspective using the Horizon Line
This last link is a video from our past graphics membership, Paper Garden Studio. It provides an example of how I use the horizon line to estimate heights...if you'd like to learn a bit more.
RESOURCES in our DESIGN LIBRARY
Though we don't have resources focused on two-point perspective drawing, we do have two on one-point...and they are very similar! Find one vanishing point, keep verticals vertical, and lines parallel to the ground (horizontal in real life) merge towards the VP.
OUR COMMUNITY
Don't forget to hang out with us this month.

TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE ACTIVITY
We have one activity this month...drawing! If you don't have time to join us, challenge yourself to at least find both vanishing points!
