The Collective Bootcamp is an ongoing series where we dive into the basics of garden design. In this edition, we’ll focus on:
THE ELEMENTS OF PLANTING DESIGN: Form + Texture + Color

Across three live sessions, you’ll learn how these elements work together and practice with simple, guided activities and examples.
You’ll also get access to a Garden Design Guide originally created for members of the Garden Design Collective, so you can see the kind of resources we share inside the membership.

BOOTCAMP TOUR
Below is an overview of what we’ll cover together. Each module is taught as a live session on its topic (with replays available). Scroll down for the March 2026 dates and times for each live session.
MARCH 23: FORM
We’ll look at plant form as the backbone of planting design and explore how designers use different forms to create structure and composition.
MARCH 24: TEXTURE
Here we’ll get into the importance of plant texture. You’ll learn how texture adds contrast, clarity, and interest through much of the growing season and often beyond.
MARCH 25: COLOR
In this module we’ll focus on color harmony, including how to limit your color choices, exploring color echo, and using the color wheel deliberately.
BONUS | MARCH 26: GREEN IN THE GARDEN
This bonus session is our monthly meetup for the Garden Design Collective. You're invited to join us to experience our amazing community, plus learn a little bit more along the way.
