Welcome back to another edition of THE PENCIL CASE! As always, each issue focuses on a theme to encourage a fresh look at garden design and graphics. Because we get so many inquiries from our readers about learning garden design, this week we've decided to showcase the awesome course offerings at Paper Garden Workshop.

Our classes and memberships focus on both landscape graphics and garden design for those starting out in this profession (though we have many experienced designers in our community too!). You have the option to dip your toe or jump in full force. 

THE GARDEN DESIGN COLLECTIVE

This is our monthly membership where we focus on learning a new design topic each month, plus have an awesome community of designers around the world. This is a great place to learn, share, ask questions and discuss anything related to design.

If you are starting out in design and need a place for support or perhaps have been practicing for a few years and are looking to deep dive into design topics a bit more…we’d love to have you join us. Use it to help you grow as a designer.

Fall enrollment is open September 19-October 1, 2023. You're welcome to join the WAITING LIST or look for updates in this newsletter. This membership opens twice a year in May and October. The monthly price (as of Fall 2023) is $75/month or $750/year.

10x10 GARDEN DESIGN TIPS

If you want to ease into design at a lower commitment, we'll be offering something a little different later this fall. Our 10x10 GARDEN DESIGN TIPS will cover ten design categories with ten tips each over 100 days via email. It will be fun, colorful and filled with simple design topics that you can apply in your own garden. We will share more as this develops and the price point will be less than $50.

THE DRAFTING SUPPLY CLUB

This is a new self-paced mini-course that covers the basic supplies you'll need to hand-draw your landscape designs. We'll cover everything from drafting tables to markers, plus help you find all of these goodies so you can stock up. This is a great prelude to Garden Graphics Tool Kit (see below), but not required. The first course will open late October and the price point will be less than $100. We'll keep you updated via this newsletter or you can sign up on the WAITING LIST.

GARDEN GRAPHICS TOOL KIT

This is our 8-week drawing course where we teach you everything from line weights to quick perspectives. Note that this course is geared towards beginners. Our activities build up from simple to more detailed as we move through the course. You'll be amazed at your progress by the end of two months.

Something to consider if you're new to design: work towards learning basic graphic skills to start. When you feel comfortable drawing it builds confidence and makes the transition into learning design so much easier. I'd love to help you with this process.

Carve time out for this one if you want results. We work hard, but have lots of fun. GGTK opens once a year in mid-January.
