Welcome back to another edition of THE PENCIL CASE! As always, each issue focuses on a theme to encourage a fresh look at garden design and graphics. It's spring and aren't we all aching to get back into the garden? A great source of design inspiration is Monrovia's 2022 Landscape Style Guide. Heck yes! Let's jump in!

2022 LANDSCAPE STYLE GUIDE.

Late last year Monrovia Nursery kindly asked me to be part of their 2022 design look book (and yes, I was a little excited). ♥︎ I have admired Monrovia for so many years and probably use their plant database more than anyone else on earth (maybe?). 

Monrovia's talented crew pinpointed five trends that were shaping gardens today with beautiful photos and plants lists. They then asked me to create accompanying landscape plans (which was super fun). I was beyond impressed with these trends and thought you would love them too. 

BEAUTIFUL GARDEN TRENDS.

Below are the five garden trends Monrovia shares in their Landscape Style Guide:

• Dark Meets Light (this is all about contrast)
• Upscale Relaxation (keep it serene and lush)
• Architectural Simplicity (a sense of timelessness)
• Garden of Abundance (weaving in edible and pollinator plants)
• Dressed-Up Bohemian (my personal favorite...learn more in the guide below).
